Camping and hiking brand Quechua wanted to tell their customers about their approach to sustainable design, promoting the circular economy and saving water, through a series of punchy tag lines. Cue much word play, rhyming and popular sayings. The idea was to rewrite the message in English while keeping the intended meaning, i.e. transcreation rather than translation.
For projects like this I provide multiple options for each tag line, plus a literal backtranslation with an explanation showing why it works and how it aligns with the brand’s style guide and tone of voice.
As well as their website, the taglines were also used on DECATHLON’s social media platforms.
